Irvine wins second race in a row:

Ferrari driver Eddie Irvine has clinched the lead in the World Championship Race, by winning the German Grand Prix, this is Irvine's second victory in a row and puts him 8 points in front of Mika Hakkinen in the World Championship Bid.  Irvine's future for the World Champioship certainly looks good at this point, however, this cannot be said for his position at Ferrari.

Stewart Bid for Schumacher

Jackie Stewart managing director and owner of the Stewart Grand Prix team are allegedly are putting in a bid next season for Double World Champion Michael Schumacher.  If this rumor is true then Stewart Grand Prix will have to place a bid of anything up to 25,000,000 and above if they are to successfully lure him away from his Ferrari Position.

Salo finishes second

Michael Schumacher's stand in driver (Finland's) Mika Salo had a superb second place at the Hockenhiem track, after being in front of Irvine for most of the race the Ferrari team (after the retirement of Mika Hakkinen) ordered Salo to let the Irish man in front so as to increase his World Championship position.  So impressed was Irvine that after the race Eddie handed Mika Salo the winning trophy saying that he deserved it for the part he played in the race, this podium finish for Finland's Mika Salo is the highest position of his Formula 1 career.

More woes at McLaren

There were more woes at McLaren last weekend over bad driving and reliability, firstly David Coulthard tried to over take Mika Salo and smashed his front wing aerodynamic foils into the back of the Ferrari thus causing the scotsman to make an unshedualed pitstop for a new nose cone, then to confound things even more he was given a 10 second stop/go penalty for an illegal over taking proceedure on one of the Prost's.  This was made even worse when World Champion and championship leader Mika Hakkinen suffered a deflated tyre problem which caused the back wing to disintegrate, which inturn sent Mika into a spin and also into early retirement.
